Il mondo agli occhi was my first solo exhibition, presented as part of the ART’è donna program. I exhibited Imma, a series of drawings, and a portion of my berber research. While I was genuinely excited, the process wasn’t without challenges — some related to the pandemic, others due to rigid municipal restrictions. Artists were limited to two - dimensional works and required to use only municipality - provided materials, such as basic wooden panels. These constraints weren’t outlined in the open call, making the process frustrating and creatively limiting.

With the support of curator and long - time friend Ciro Saetti, I managed to negotiate some flexibility and present an installation piece — despite initial responses like “You’re the first to ask” or “No one’s ever tried that.”

It became clear that the institution preferred safer, static formats and wasn't fully prepared for more experimental practices. While I appreciated the opportunity and support, the project revealed a gap between the city’s self-promotion as a cultural hub and the limited structural backing it actually provides for young artists. Still, both Il mondo agli occhi and the final collective show were important milestones in my development and gave me space to reflect, challenge and create.
