Marmellata di Arance is a photographic series that began as a conceptual exploration of domestic space and gradually transformed into a visual abstraction through the medium of photography.

Most of the images are created by capturing reflections — objects mirroring the very spaces they inhabit. This layering of perception invites the viewer to look beyond the surface, much like stepping through the looking-glass, a direct reference to Lewis Carroll’s work that inspired the title.

The apartment where the images were taken — located in Milan — was small, somewhat claustrophobic, and overpriced for what it was. But it also felt emblematic of a broader, shared reality: the experience of living in big cities facing ongoing housing crises. In this sense, the images aren’t just aesthetic; they become a quiet protest, a poetic commentary on contemporary urban domesticity.
